The lack of professional communication in the field of migration journalism builds a ground for increasing disinformation and hate speech against refugees and migrants in the media landscape of Turkey. Turkish journalists and media organizations aiming to produce objective, pluralistic, and rights-based news in this field are often unable to reach primary news sources due to language barriers and lack of direct access to refugee and migrant communities. On the other hand, media organizations and journalists within refugee and migrant communities remain limited in developing professional communication with prominent media mediums due to increasing prejudice and social polarization in Turkey.

Considering these needs, The Pluralist Media Project aims to facilitate professional solidarity and cooperation among all media actors in the field of migration journalism by bringing them together through dialogue meetings and workshops. In addition, with monthly migration journalism guideline publications, the project aims to support news production by providing technical information and resources to media content producers in the field.

The Pluralist Media Project is being conducted with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED).  The contents of the project do not necessarily reflect the official opinion of EED. Responsibility for the information and views expressed in the project lies entirely with the Media and Migration Association.
